MUMBAI: Indian police detained a state lawmaker from prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party on Tuesday on suspicion of “selling enmity inside the call of faith” after Muslim companies demanded his arrest for his feedback about the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
The detention of T Raja Singh, a lawmaker in the southern kingdom of Telangana, comes months after his Bharatiya Janata birthday celebration (BJP) suspended a spokesperson for her comments at the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that had led to a diplomatic backlash in opposition to India.
“He has been charged with selling enmity within the call of faith,” Joel Davis, a senior police official in Hyderabad metropolis, advised Reuters.
“we’ve detained him and we can arrest him. That is approximately the latest video that he published.”
Inside the video, to be had on social media, Singh, and an obvious reference to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), stated an aged man had married a girl a long time his junior.
Singh could not be reached for comment.
The Hindu nationalist BJP could examine Singh’s remarks and take action if he became discovered to have violated its code, celebration spokesperson okay Krishna Rao informed the News18 channel.
Loads of Muslims protested against Singh on Monday evening after the video appeared on social media, photos from media confirmed.
