

PONCA CITY, Okla. — The memorial service for Osage County Sheriff’s Captain William “Willy” Riley Hargraves will be held Friday in Ponca City.
Hargraves kicked the bucket subsequent to being engaged with an auto collision in western Osage County on Aug. 19. The reason for the accident is still being scrutinized.
While going to High School, he started his fire profession with the Osage Cove Fire Department as a worker fire fighter. Endless supply of High School, he went to the Oklahoma State University Fire Program and has stayed dynamic in serving his local area as Fire Chief, since that time.
In 1998, Willy began working at the Osage County Sheriff’s Office as a prison guard. He went to the C.L.E.E.T. Policing and graduated in 2000.
This started his profession as a Field Deputy with Osage County. Under the administration of Sheriff Russell Cottle, he was elevated to the position of Sergeant then as Field Lieutenant under Sheriff Wes Penland. Afterward, Sheriff Ty Koch elevated him to Investigator where he stayed until 2010.
He left the Sheriff’s Office for a concise period returning a couple of years after the fact. During that time, he served the Ponca City Police Department where he labored for a very long time.
After the retirement of his greatest coach, Charlie Cartwright, he returned home to the Osage County Sheriff’s Office and turned into the Jail Captain under Sheriff Eddie Virden.
In October 2021, he was elevated to the Captain of Investigations where he kept on serving the residents of Osage County.
